T-PAW A Phony

Tim Pawlenty grew up in blue-collar family and is running on his so called cred with the "salts of the earth". The former governor of Minnesota supported every trade deal, every tax giveaway to corporations that ship jobs overseas, and thinks our historically low taxes need to be even lower. Tim Pawlenty is not a blue-collar guy, he's a big phony. His father, the meat packer, would be ashamed of his greedy ways.

Mary Bottari - No Remorse From Wall Street

Despite bringing the world's economy to its knees, Wall Street's finest are still up to their old habits and their friends in Congress are letting them get away with it. Mary Bottari, from banksterusa.org, talks about Republicans vehement rejection of Elizabeth Warren (Obama's Consumer Financial Protection Bureau architect) and the political game of chicken the GOP is playing with the debt ceiling.

John Nichols - Palin Steals The Limelight

Our good friend John Nichols comments on Sarah Palin's non-campaign campaign tour. We find out what's she is up to and how Palin's Madison speech this April is being spun on the national level.

The recalls are working. State Republicans are racing to get through their paradigm shifting legislation before Democrats get a chance to take back the Senate. John Nichols describes how the reckless attempt to rush legislation is helping Democrats and explains why Republicans are distancing themselves from Walker.

Walker Borrowing For Insurance Giveaway

We have recently learned that Governor Walker is pushing through a proposal that would delay unemployment compensation for a week after application. Walker thinks these unemployed "haves" can get by. Wisconsin is broke after all, right?

Contrast that with an insurance tax break Walker wants passed immediately. Under the Orwellian title the "Jobs Now Fund", Walker wants to BORROW money in order to start this huge giveaway to insurance companies. Even arch-conservative State Senator Glenn Grothman is against this idea saying it is, "the most dubious giveaway I've seen since I've been in the legislature."

Just another day in Fitzwalkerstan, where the poor get poorer and the rich get richer.

Madison Area Music Awards This Saturday

Rick Tvedt & R0y Elkins from the Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) are live in the studio to talk about the big awards show this Saturday at the Overture Center. MAMA does more than just recognition some of Madison outstanding musicians, they also put instruments into kids hands when funding for music in our schools is being phased out.

Honor Labor This Memorial Day

Two living labor legends, Ed Sadlowski Senior and Junior, join me to talk about the lives lost for labor rights. Ed Sadlowski Senior tells us about the Memorial Day Massacre in 1937 and how labor struggles have shaped our nation's history. We also talk about the lack of labor history in our schools and how this all relates to the current labor strife here in Wisconsin.

Mayor Soglin Blasts Cieslewicz

Madison Mayor Paul Soglin is on the live line to talk about Madison's fiscal situation (it ain't pretty). Mayor Dave left Soglin with a big mess to clean up and Governor Walker is obviously compounding the problem. We hear how Soglin plans on addressing the problem and the status of the Overture Center.

John Nichols - Sumi's Decision

Comrade John Nichols and I go over the aftermath of Judge Sumi's decision to overturn the budget repair bill due to a violation of the Open Meetings Law. We also discuss who came out the biggest loser in the GOP's disastrous attempt to bust public sector unions.

It's about to heat up again, are you ready to show Walker that this movement has staying power?

Thank You!

Over these last few months I have had the pleasure to meet a lot my fellow winter soldiers and have made so many new friends all united in this struggle. Thank you for listening, thank you for coming up to me and giving me feedback, and thank you for standing up against this assault on the working and middle class.

But are you ready for round 2?

Near Tragedy At Madison Planned Parenthood

Our fair city escaped national headlines yesterday because a fanatical pro-lifer doesn't know how to use a gun. Ralph Lang from Marshfield booked a motel room near a Planned Parenthood facility in Madison with the intention of killing doctors who perform abortions. Luckily, while Lang was loading his handgun, it went off and police were able to stop this tragedy before it started.

Governor Walker really lucked out on this one. Just this month, Walker has demonized Planned Parenthood and stripped them of their funding and promised to sign one of the most lax concealed carry legislation in the country which requires no training, no permitting, and basically allows someone to bring a gun anywhere. I wonder what ever inspired Lang to plot such a senseless crime?

Tom Diehl - 60th Season Of Tommy Barlett Ski Show

If Scott Walker has cut your pay but you still want to take your family on a trip this summer, look no further than the Tommy Bartlett Show in Wisconsin Dells. Tom Diehl joins me to talk about the Tommy Bartlett Show's 60th season and why generations of families keep coming back.

The Tommy Bartlett Season starts today!

Rob Zerban - The Man Who Will Beat Paul Ryan

Kenosha County Supervisor Rob Zerban joins me to talk about the blow back from Paul Ryan's plan to turn Medicare into a voucher program (essentially a big insurance giveaway) and what he's been hearing from residents in District 1. Paul Ryan is on his heels and his election in 2012 will undoubtedly be competitive. Zerban is the man for the job and would be a much needed voice of reason in the House of Representatives.

Scott Paul - Manufacturing Jobs In America

Our good friend from the Alliance for American Manufacturing, Scott Paul, joins me to talk the quality of manufacturing jobs returning to America. While it is never bad news when jobs come home, these are not the manufacturing jobs of yore and without substantial change to our trade policies, the race to the bottom will continue.

John Nichols - Republicans Race To The Right

You may have noticed over the past few years that there is no room for compromise or moderates in the Republican party. John Nichols, author of the 'S' word, joins me to talk about the GOP's hard turn to the right and why Paul Ryan is driving his party off a cliff. We also discuss Walker's abyssal approval rating (especially among independents) and Randy Hopper being thrown to the curb by someone besides his wife.

Ed Schultz's Apology

Liberal radio & TV host Ed Schultz has issued a lengthy apology and agreed to take a week suspension for calling right-wing hack Laura Ingraham a "talk slut". No one thinks Ed was saying that Laura was promiscuous woman, clearly he was talking about how she spouts Republican talking points for a living. Ed spent a whole four minutes whimpering, apologizing to everyone from Laura to his dog, and played right into these crypto-fascists' hands. His apology is far more offensive than telling the truth about Laura Ingraham.

Marty Beil - One Day Longer

AFSCME Council 24 Director and winter soldier for the middle-class, Marty Beil joins me to give the latest details out of the Fitzwalkerstan regime. We also talk about how Walker has security at an all-time high but constitutional carry author Pam Galloway thinks people should be able to conceal weapons inside the Capitol.

John Nichols - Game Changer In Upstate New York

Last night, Democrat Kathy Hochul beat Republican Jane Corwin in a special election in New York's 26th congressional district. This seat has been held by Republicans for decades and despite millions poured in by the GOP, Kathy Hochul's opposition to Paul Ryan's medicare plan proved to be a winning issue. John Nichols joins me to talk about the national significance of this race and why Republicans will be avoiding Ryan like the plague.

Constitutional Carry Coming To Wisconsin

I have been waiting for Wisconsin to pass concealed carry for along time but I never dreamed that we would go from nothing to legislation without any training or permitting provisions. Jim Palmer from the Wisconsin Professional Police Association is in the studio to talk about about why his members are against constitutional carry and some potential consequences of this legislation.

Chris Taylor - Assembly Candidate in the 48th

Chris Taylor is live in the studio to talk about her run to fill Joe Parisi's seat in the State Assembly. Taylor has been a longtime advocate for women's health and she describes some of the draconian provisions being put forth by Walker's posse in the state legislature. I also ask Taylor about the recently passed Voter ID bill and education cuts in Walker's budget.

Texting Not The Only Distraction

20 year old Stephanie M. Kanoff is being charged with homicide by negligent driving because she was allegedly texting when she struck Dylan Ellefson with her vehicle. Needless to say, Ms. Kanoff is in a lot of trouble and will have to live with this the rest of her life. But what makes texting different than say, changing the radio or yelling at your kids in the backseat? Do you really think locking this poor girl up is the right solution?

Public Enemy Number One: RON KIND

In Wisconsin we have one Democrat who is a wolf in sheep's clothing. I am of course referring to Congressman Ron Kind (D-La Crosse). He has taken more money from Wall Street than any other Wisconsin Dem and has gone along with every destructive trade deal since he's been in Congress. Kind is now rumored to support the Korean Free Trade Agreement and Lori Wallach from Public Citizen joins me to talk about the thousands of jobs at risk in Kind's own district.

Walker's Ringtone

Newt Gingrich was giving a stump speech in Iowa when his cell phone went off. I can relate since I often, to my producer's dismay, leave my cell phone on while I'm on the air. What makes this interesting is that Abba's Dancing Queen was Newt's ringtone. He evidently is a big Mamma Mia fan.

If this could happen to Newt, it could happen to any politician. What do you think is Governor Douche Nozzle's ringtone?

John Nichols - Senator Empty Suit & Special House Race In New York

The Cap Times associate editor John Nichols and I talk about Ron Johnson's support of Paul Ryan's disastrous budget (basically a big insurance giveaway) and his refusal to raise taxes under any circumstances. Paul Ryan's Medicare proposal is also the hot topic in a special Congressional race in upstate New York. This seat has been held by Republicans for decades but the GOP's golden boy might be to blame if Democrats pull off a victory.

No English, No Service

A restaurant in South Carolina is receiving worldwide attention for only allowing English speakers to dine. The proprietor says the gimmick has tripled his business and he has received calls from around the world praising this initiative. Not long ago, I dined at a restaurant in Quebec where no one spoke English and somehow I got my food and was treated well. This restaurant owner insists this has nothing to do with race, only language. Is this really what America is all about?

Raise The Speed Limit

The safety crowd in Ohio is dumbfounded that accidents actually went down despite an increase in their speed limit. Walker has been looking for a way to please the masses after his full assault on the middle-class. If he really wants to help working people, raise the speed limit!

Off-Duty Firefighters Save The Day

Firefighters Joe Gangler, Ted Higgins, Jeff Annen, and Kyle Annen join me in the studio to talk about the woman they saved (while off-duty) last Friday at a west side condo fire. We are lucky to have such dedicated and brave firefighters in our community and we need to continue to fight for their collective bargaining rights. There is only one word to describe these men: heroes.
