Atheist Billboard Counterproductive

The billboard above is proudly displayed over the NJ turnpike by an atheist group hoping to get doubters out of the closet. Do you think putting something down, attracts people to a cause?

We hear all about what Caller Gee had to say to Mother Theresa!

Muslims Prevent Terrorist Attack In Portland

Mohamed Osman Mohamud's parents knew their son was trouble, that's why they alerted authorities which lead to an FBI sting that caught Mohamud in the act. The Muslims of Portland immediately condemned this man as well, they had their burn mosque burnt down in response. Muslims were instrumental in stopping this attack yet still get demonized. So how did the fair and balanced FOX News cover these patriotic Muslim Americans? They didn't. FOX would rather foment racism than cover news.

Home Invasions On The Rise, Time To Fight Back

I've been installing better locks and battening down the hatches at my mother's house because of the string of home invasions that's been terrorizing our community. These bums are taking advantage of unlocked doors, garages, and have even been stealing people's vehicles to carry off all the loot. You know what would nip this in the bud? If an average Madisonian shot one of these burglar DEAD, I bet these would-be burglaries would think twice.

Gun-Free School Zones FAILED

The 15 year old who held students and a teacher hostage at Marinette High school knew that no one would else had a weapon and that he would have full control of the situation. It's time we start letting teachers and students defend themselves. Otherwise they're just sitting ducks, thanks Herbie!

Bastard Banks

The new trend in Big Banking is to charge customers for accessing their balance, annual fees on "free checking" accounts, charges for using an ATM, and fees for NOT using your money. This is what happens when corporate America writes their own rules: YOU LOSE. We do have some power in this situation, drop your account at the Wall Street bank and go for a local credit union.

Barbara Lets Loose On President Obama

In an interview with the First Couple, Barbara Walters picked apart President Obama in what seemed like awfully personal questions. Some Presidents seemed to have the ability to rise above all these trivialities but Obama is constantly mired in unjust controversy. President Obama has made some mistakes but nothing warrants this level of personal demonization.

Race Card Played At Toys "R" Us

On Thanksgiving Day, Lanessa Lattimore was at a Madison Toy "R" Us where she butted in line and then threatened to shoot another customer in the face when she was confronted on her social taboo. Lattimore was arrested for disorderly conduct but is now accusing the Madison Police and the other customers of racially profiling her. By playing the race card in a situation that is undoubtedly her own fault, Lattimore is doing damage to anyone who is actually affected by prejudice.

The "New" Tea Party

During the midterm elections gays, guns, and God were not really part of the Tea Party talking points. Well that's about to change as Republicans take control of the House and countless State governments and enacting a socially conservative agenda is now legislatively possible. This completely flies in the face of the "smaller government" mantra heard ad nauseam during the campaign. Have you noticed that the Tea Party is virtually indistinguishable from the same Republican dogma that has persisted since Ronald Reagan? Is there a difference? Because I've never met a tea partier who hasn't voted for Republicans most of their life.

Willie Gets Busted

Border Patrol agents in Texas pulled over Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger Tour Bus and (surprise, surprise) found copious amounts of marijuana. Don't you think there are just some people whose drug use is so benign that efforts to rehabilitate them are fruitless? Who has earned the right to get high?

The Sly in the Morning Beatles iPod

iTunes finally released the entire Beatles anthology on their online music store and people went gangbusters buying up songs that were hits 40 years ago. Instead of buying the entire collection, we come up with a few choice Beatles' songs to put on the Sly in the Morning Beatles iPod - what would you add?

Black Friday Losers

Instead of having a quiet Thanksgiving at home, enjoying the food, the family, and the football, there were millions of Americans sitting out in the cold so they could be the first to buy the latest lead ridden Chinese toys. Who are these people? What's your Christmas shopping strategy and does it include waiting hours in the cold?

Airport Body Scanner Protest Fizzles Out

If you listened to FOX News or saw the Drudge Report last week, you would of heard them drumming up the supposed TSA protests that would cause massive airport delays on the day before Thanksgiving. There were a handful of colorful protesters but hardly a mass revolt. Let me ask you something. Conservative went crazy over these body scanners and the pat downs but why didn't they care when the Patriot Act greatly curtailed our individual liberties?

Palin School Of Journalism

Palin was on Hannity's show last night and she said she would not agree to another interview with Katie Couric because she does not subscribe to the Palin School of Journalism. We come up with the principles behind Palin's take on the fourth estate.

Marj Passman

My favorite Madison School Board member Marj Passman joins to talk about State Republicans' proposal to furlough teachers, Tony Evers' reworking of the State funding formula, and we dispel the myths behind the ridiculous attacks on our teachers.

Racism At UW- Platteville

My alma mater UW-Platteville is going through a revival of prejudice toward black students, jewish students, and homosexuals. It has gotten worse in the last 10 years. If your child was having threatening message written on their home- what would you do?

It's Another Sly Family Thanksgiving

We hear all about what the Sly in the Morning team is up to for Thanksgiving. I'm thankful that my bad sister will not be in attendance.

Michael Moore: Hero

Former health insurance communication executive Wendell Potter apologized to Michael Moore on Keith Olbermann's program this week for his role in a campaign to discredit Moore and his movie about the industry, Sicko. Both Potter and Moore are true American heroes, fighting for what's right and not just what makes a lot of money. Potter admits in his new book, Deadly Spin, of baiting major media outlets into running stories on the supposed inaccuracies in the film. Turns out Moore did his homework and Potter reveals the millions of dollars spent to smear him. This however, was nothing compared to the 86 million dollars the health insurance industry spent attacking the recent Health Care Reform Act. The media in this country is in a sad state of affair and Moore is a rare exemption. Can you think of another person that has so consistently cared and advocated for everyday Americans?

State Republicans Declare War On Public Schools

How does Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald want to cut spending? By issuing a State mandate that would furlough teachers. This is just the first step in an assault against public education in our State. Wisconsin is going to have to make some tough budget choices but even the crypto-fascist at the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute think cutting k-12 education is a bad idea. This is the revenge of old, white, wealthy people that could care less about education and would rather give a tax cut to Wal-Mart.

The Worst GPS Voice

ABC News had an interesting piece on the Garmin's GPS Karen, who is heard around the world on that company's navigation systems. This got me thinking. What would be the worst, most annoying female celebrity that could voice the directions? I call it the Hag setting.

Pseudo-Racists

I unfortunately was briefly in Waukesha County yesterday and while at the gym, I overheard two older gentlemen discussing whether President Obama was indeed a U.S. citizen. Then while driving back to Madison, I saw a pickup truck with both a confederate flag and a decoy of Calvin peeing on Obama's name. They've replaced the 'N' word with the 'S' word: SOCIALISM. Changing the terminology doesn't change the root of the hatred.

Sheriff's Department Worked Diligently To Protect Displaced Students

As reported on WKOW last week, the Dane County Sheriff's department was forced to follow through with eviction notices for some west side student renters because their landlord hadn't been paying his mortgage. Wells Fargo, who now owns the property, was not willing to let the students live there, leaving the Sheriff's department no choice but to help these displaced students find housing. We get all the details from the source, Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney.

Frautschi's Madison

Jerome W. Frautschi, the benefactor of that ugly Overture Center, has been surreptitiously buying up properties around his beloved performance arts center so he can make sure there aren't any "inappropriate developments". Who died and made him King of the Smug? Was Frautschi's multi-million dollar donation a gift or the first payment on the right to use the City as his sandbox? Gov. Walker should take note, this is the definition of a BOONDOGGLE.

What To Say To The Favre Sniffers

Last night might very well of been the last chapter of the never ending Favre saga and I couldn't be happier. Although their ranks are dwindling, the Favre sniffers are out there and it's time to finally get them to say uncle. What are you going to say to the last remaining Favre holdouts?

Update: Sheriff Mahoney 7am Monday

Upon talking with the Sheriff, a whole new side of this story has emerged. Tune in Monday morning at 7am to hear what the Sheriff's Department did to help these displaced students.

Westside landlord Allan Beauchaine has been a bad boy and now his student tenants are paying for it. Beauchaine hasn't been paying his mortgage on his west side rental property and the Dane County Sheriff has evicted his rent paying tenants by order of the Bank. I haven't spoken to Sheriff Mahoney about this but there is no excuse for kicking paying tenants out to the curb. Beauchaine is the one who should be punished.

Republicans Snub President Obama

Remember during the campaign when Republicans said they wanted to "get things done" and have "adult conversations" about the direction of this country? Well those conversations evidently will not be with the President of the United States. Obama invited congressional Democrats and Republicans to the White House to talk about areas of agreements and the GOP snubbed him and said they wanted to reschedule. This isn't dinner with your auntie, to deny an invitation to the White House is to disrespect the presidential office itself. Let the bi-partisanship begin!

Tom Nelson

Former Lt. Governor candidate Tom Nelson is on the live line to talk about the special legislative session Democrats might call to finally deal with the overdue State workers' contract- that is if Republicans decide to show up. Governor-elect Walker has asked Doyle to stop these negotiations and newly empowered Republicans are going to take a hard line on the much maligned public workers in the years to come. We also find out what Nelson is up too after a long year on the campaign trail.

The Palin Phenomenon

It's all over the entertainment news, those pesky teabaggers keep voting for Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars despite the fact that she consistently gets panned by the judges. What is it about this family that commands such a loyal following?

Partisan TV

ABC News did a story about which shows attract conservative and which shows attract liberals. I was surprised by the results because its not just FOX News and MSNBC. What's your political associations and does it influence your viewing habits?

The Success Of GM Still Not Enough

GM is back on the stock market and the "government bailout" turned out to be a resounding success. You wouldn't know it if you watched FOX News. They keep asking, "what did the American people get out of this"? Hmmm..... interest, jobs, an AMERICAN CAR INDUSTRY.
