Johnson On Wrong Side Of Justice

What was Senate candidate Ron Johnson's first foray into politics? Opposing a bill that would of extended the statue of limitation for victims of child molestation who are trying to sue their abusers civilly. Johnson sat on the board of the Green Bay catholic diocese which was mired in legal trouble for covering up abusive priests and no doubt influenced Johnson's decision to testify before the State legislature this past January. Johnson even went on to say that this issue was his "passion". The crux of Johnson's testimony centers around money being more important than giving victims of child molestation an avenue for justice.

After Years of Helping Diocese Keep Secret Names Of Pedophile Priests, Candidate Johnson Now Whistling a Different Tune - Post From Uppity Wisconsin

FOX Is In Full Union Bashing Mode

Right in the midst of the mid-term elections, FOX has been waging a daily assault on unions. The FOX crowd says that unions are no longer necessary. In the last thirty years, wages for the middle-class have slipped lower and lower while the wealthy in this country have had a meteorite rise in prosperity. Not long ago, the richest 10% in this country controlled 60% of wealth, that percentage has surged to 80% in recent years. This recession has also been an excuse to permanently lower wages for workers, yet CEOS and executives do not share in this sacrifice. How does FOX get away with blatantly lying about the role of unions in this country?

Teachers Blamed For Societal Ills

NBC nightly news has been doing a week-long segment on education and it has largely been a big teacher bashing fest. Marjorie Passman, Madison school board member, is live in the studio to talk about merit pay, teacher tenure, and what obstacles stand between students and a great education. We are lucky to have great schools in this community but if we continue to demonize teachers and pay them poorly that might change.

Packer Gets Unjust Fine

Safety for the Packers, Nick Collins, was spit on and called a racial slur after Monday night's game in Chicago and the NFL has issued HIM a fine for throwing his mouthpiece at the racist football fan. Collins was sticking up for himself, that doesn't deserve a fine.

FOX Dismissed Obama's Madison Rally

How did FOX decide to cover the big rally on campus yesterday? By running a report on how students shouldn't vote because they are uninformed. While Obama was trying to get more people voting, the Republican news network is trying to suppress it. We all know that FOX actively misinforms its viewers and they are much more likely to vote then an "uninformed" student. So which is worse? An uninformed student or a loyal FOX viewers who thinks Obama is Islamic socialist?

President Obama's Religion

A voter in New Mexico asked Obama to clarify his religious views, for the millionth time, and now Obama's faith is being called confusing. Can this man get a break? He's a Christian, not a born again, but still a Christian.

Feingold vs. The Hacks

Milwaukee talk radio and the State's right wing pundits were all excited yesterday when it looked like Feingold might be in Washington for a vote instead of speaking with Obama on campus. The national and state media repeated their drumbeat that Feingold was snubbing the President, so everyone was quite surprised when he was able to attend the rally. They criticize Feingold for supposedly being in lock-step with the President and then try to say he's ashamed of the Obama when he isn't seen with him. You can't have it both ways. Truth is, Feingold is proud to be seen with the President and proud to disagree with him on some issues.

Ben Masel: Protesting The President

Sly and Masel at the Democratic National Convention in Denver

Ben Masel is on the live line to talk about his protest attempt yesterday and how it compares with political rallies of the past. Good news, Masel was able to the President to notice his "Hemp is Jobs" sign read by the President. We also talk about the 40th Annual Great Midwest Marijuana festival happening this weekend.

Parking Tickets Given To Funeral Attendees

A Milwaukee meter maid issued several tickets to a group of gathered mourners, even issuing a parking citation to the HEARSE. These people were attending a funeral, how about a little respect? The City of Milwaukee has already retracted the parking tickets but should this meter maid apologize?

President Obama In Madison

The City of Madison is preparing for the arrival of Barack Obama today, where the President hopes to rally support for fellow Democrats among young people who overwhelming voted for him in 2008. The Wisconsin State Journal used the President's visit to say he's too divisive and hasn't done far enough to get us out of this financial crisis. Does the Republicans strategy of lock-step objections share any of the blame? Do you welcome the President to Madison with open arms?

Time To Come Home

Five U.S. soldiers face murder charges for killing three Afghan civilians essentially for sport. This war is done. Every day we stay is one more opportunity for our tired and depleted military to snap under the pressure. It's over, time for our boys to come home.

Republicans Against Jobs Returning To USA

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce says legislation to give a tax credit to companies that bring jobs back from foreign shores is a bad idea but tax cuts for the rich are a grand idea. Contrary to their name, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce looks out for trans-national corporations not average Americans. To them, it's a global economy and exploiting labor forces in Asia is part of the game. Who does the U.S. Chamber of Commerce support for Senate? Why freedom-loving Ron Johnson who thinks outsourcing is just one part of "creative destruction". Well its certainly been destructive to Wisconsin.

Democratic Candidate For Governor Tom Barrett

I speak to the Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett about the big debate last Friday, where he did not hold back. We talk about Walker's fuzzy budget plans, taxes, and why negotiating with State workers is the way to preserve job and cut costs.

Craig Gilbert - The Wisconsin Electorate

Craig Gilbert from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel joins me to discuss how the population breakdown, ethnicity, income-level, and our history effects Wisconsin elections and how that factors into the candidates strategy for victory.

Scott Paul - Alliance For American Manufacturing

I speak to Scott Paul from the AAM about the big vote coming up this week in Congress that seeks to punish China for manipulating their currency. This manipulation, which violates the already unfair trade agreement with have with the communist, is the equivalent of putting a 40% tax on all U.S. products while undervaluing their exports. Most Republicans and all Teabaggers say they speak for the American people yet they are oddly silent on this issue and blindly support "free" trade.

Stephen Colbert Tesitfies Before Congress

Republicans were appalled and peeved that the character Stephen Colbert testified before Congress and supposedly made a "mockery" of our governmental process. Colbert may have said some rather silly things but he's a comedian and it's a bit. Republicans say some of the most ridicules things in the world, only they BELIEVE IT. Who really demeans the process, Colbert or Teabaggers (i.e. the modern Republican party)?

Marty Beil - AFSCME Council 24

I speak to Marty Beil about how State workers would fare under a Walker vs. Barrett administration. There is a lot of misinformation out there, Marty sets the record straight.

Yuppies Ruin Concerts

Remember when concerts were simple? You had to deal with the crowds, the lines, the bathrooms but it also created the unique atmosphere that makes concerts a fun and unique experience. Yuppies are now eating up VIP deals which offer pedicures, massages, fancy food, and special seating DURING the concert. Concerts have become spas with better music.

Bill Lueders, Author of Watchdog

News Editor of Isthmus Magazine Bill Lueders is live in the studio to talk about his new book Watchdog. It's a collection of some of Bill's favorite and most memorable pieces from his 25 years of covering the City of the perpetually offended.

House Republican's Lemon Pledge

Congressional Republicans came out with their "Pledge to America" which is just a rehashing of the same, tired mantra that conservatives have been preaching for decades. Republicans have put out a platform that protects the rich and power on the backs of everyone else. This lie about small business being effected by letting the Bush Tax Cuts expire will be thoroughly debunked.

Johnson's Pacur Company Received THREE Government-Backed Bonds

Johnson has said on record that his company Pacur has never received any government help. Well that turns out to be completely dishonest since Pacur received cheap government loans not once, not twice, but three times. We currently have an independent, hard working Senator that voted against all these awful trade deals that got us in this financial calamity in the first place. It's time to do your part in getting Senator Feingold re-elected because the consequences of six years of Johnson will be disastrous to Wisconsin and the Nation.

Katy Perry Yanked From Sesame Street

Pop singer Katy Perry's song with Elmo will not be running on Sesame Street because of the top she's wearing. Sesame Street yanked the segment after receiving numerous complaints from parents concerned that Perry was showing too much cleavage. Watch the video above and honestly tell me how it could possibly have a negative effect on child. Doesn't this send a terrible message to little girls?

Attorney General Candidate Scott Hassett

Attorney General Candidate Scott Hassett is live in the studio to talk about his campaign and comment on how he would of handled the likes of DA Ken Kratz.

Peg Lautenschlager On AG Van Hollen

Former Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager comments on what she would of done if she heard that Calmut County DA Ken Kratz was making sexually suggestive comments to women he was supposedly trying to help. Our current Attorney General, JB Van Hollen, decided that he would sit on the case for almost a year and only throw Kratz under the bus when public pressure was overwhelming against the disgraced DA. Van Hollen has also lashed out against the victim of this case and continues to blame everyone but Kratz, nice.

Republicans Are Pussies On Terrorism

You would of thought President Obama crawled in a cave with Bin Laden the way right wingers are reacting to comments divulged by Bob Woodward in his new book on the Obama administration. Limbaugh and his band of thoughtless followers are appalled that President Obama said that America could absorb another terrorist attack and would be stronger because of it. What exactly is wrong with saying that America is tougher than terrorism?

Who Really Caused A Disturbance?

The Madison Police Department is now charging Open Carry advocates, who caused a stir by eating lunch at Culvers with guns holstered to their hips, with disorderly conduct. Who really caused a disturbance though? The police officers who came in with sirens blaring and cuffed these five men or the guys who were peacefully eating lunch while exercising a right given to them by the U.S. Constitution?

Wisconsin: The Nation's Most Representative State

What State epitomizes the United States most accurately? You guessed it, Wisconsin. According to a variety of statistics, everything from income level to population distribution, Wisconsin is the most average State. I'm not sure if this is a compliment or not. From other places you have lived, how does Wisconsin differ from the rest of the nation?

Time To De-Redneck The Military

Lady Gaga has been making speeches in an effort to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Just yesterday, the Senate rejected a procedural vote to end the discriminating policy. Lady Gaga, an unlikely voice of reason, brought up a good point. Why not kick out the soldiers that are so uncomfortable with homosexuals. It's 2010 people, its finally time to end discrimination in the military.

Van Hollen Silent And Apathetic Over Ken Kratz's Misconduct

Wisconsin Attorney General JB Van Hollen knew about Calumet County DA Ken Kratz's repeated history of making outrageous sexual suggestive commentsto victims for at least 11 months. Van Hollen and Kratz are longtime political allies and he may have sat on this case to help his friend. When WKOW finally got Van Hollen to throw Kratz's under the bus, he blamed the Cap Times for stirring up trouble rather than taking out this perverted DA! I speak to John Nichols about how our Attorney Generals is playing politics with our justice system.

City Plans On Buying Union Corners

Mayor Dave wants to buy the empty lot on Milwaukee St and E. Wash, known as Union Corners, and wait for a developer that meets the neighborhood's absurd criteria. There was supposed to be a big condo development there but the recession nipped that in the bud. This oversensitive neighborhood is worried that an awful strip mall might move in, so the City is willing to shell out over 3 million to ease their minds. I have news for you, a strip mall wouldn't cost taxpayers anything and its better than an empty FIELD! The City's priorities need to be readjusted.
