Father Doing Disservice To Bratty Son
Watch the video above and let me know if the father of this kid did his son a disservice by getting this overzealous cop fired?
Time For Obama To Fight Back

Over a fifth of Americans believe that President Obama is a Muslim and is not an American. An appalling testament to the power of Beck, Limbaugh, and the FOX news network. It's time for President Obama to quick playing cool and calling out this propaganda for what it is: racist BULLSHIT!
Ped Bridges Cripples McDs So City Pays

The City has agreed to pay $300,000 to McDonalds for devastating that restaurant by obscuring it with that useless pedestrian bridge. If no one is going to use the bridge, what other uses can we find for it?
Johnson Lies, Denies, Lies, Denies

Senate Candidate Johnson is rewriting history again, which seems to be the ongoing theme of his campaign. This time, Johnson's company has rewritten its own history on its website, to help cover up a lie he told WKOW about not taking government subsidies. If you tell a lie enough times, does it become true?
Local Prosecutor Thinks He's A Cop

An investigator with the Dane County's District Attorney's office, Randy Burmeister, decided he wanted to play Barney Fife last week when he pulled over a motorist for allegedly speeding in Sun Prairie. Burmeister investigates bureaucrats for violating open meetings laws but still technically had the authority to pull someone over for a flagrant speeding violation. Seems awfully strange, what do you suppose was the real reason Burmeister decided to take the law into his own hands?

Republicans Hate the Post Office

Is there any shared sense of community anymore? On the Forbes on FOX program they were ripping into the Post Office and their employees, saying the private sector could do a better job. The liberal commentator on the program thankfully mentioned that Forbes Magazine itself is delivered by USPS not Fedex or UPS. Who benefits the most from the Post Office?
Casually Naked

The team (Crystal, Dylan, and I) discuss baring it all after a recent trip Dylan took to a nude beach.
Motorcycle Stupidity

Now I know I sound old but when I was driving into Madison yesterday, I witnessed a young man on a motorcycle pass me when there was on coming traffic, going right down the middle of the road at over 90mph. Should I feel bad if this kid died from an awful wreck?
Beck's Rally The Revival Of Fascism In America

Beck rallied the Old Country Buffet crowd to Washington over this weekend and proved that there are plenty of Americans who are clueless. What was the reason this mob gathered? They are furious that poor people are getting access to health care and that rich people aren't getting their tax cuts. Is this a sign that the Teabaggers are winning?
An Outsider In My Own City
Yet another Ride the Drive event took place yesterday, which is nothing but a dagger in the eye for all us drivers. I'm starting to think that the bikers have completely taken over and that I'm part of dwindling minority. Do you feel like an outsider now?
Las Vegas Hoarder

This story made my weekend and I hope my mother and sister are listening. Billie Jean was presumed missing for over four months but was found IN HER HOME underneath a ceiling high pile of junk- she was a hoarder. This is what happens when you keep buying crap and you don't throw shit away!

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett

Milwaukee Mayor and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett is on the live line with us. We talk Scott Walker's proposed cuts to BadgerCare, stem cell research, high-speed rail, how Walker's policies and support of NAFTA have been bad for Wisconsin and why Walker's flip-flopping means he can't be trusted to tell the truth.
Call Centers Reopen In U.S. For Cheaper

It's good news at first glance - companies are actually closing their call centers in India and relocating them back here in the United States. But the reason why is not encouraging for our economy. Apparently the wages in India were rising too quickly for the tastes of big corporations, so they are now hiring disabled Americans to work from their homes. Over a third of Americans believe the U.S. will never again be as prosperous as it once was. Is it any wonder why?
Mayor Dave Needs Bicycle Exorcism

Mayor Dave is a good guy, but his advocacy of bicycle riding is bordering on the obsessive. The latest example is yet another Ride the Drive event taking place this weekend - because apparently one per year isn't enough. Even though this weekend is the worst possible time to close streets to cars with UW students moving in, the Mayor thinks people love it so much that it must go on. He's even said it's people's favorite activity in Madison. What can we do to exorcise the Mayor's bicycle demons?
UW-Madison Students Victims Of Thrill Beatings

Several groups of UW-Madison students have been victims of thrill beatings downtown over the last couple weeks. The perpetrators of these crimes aren't even looking to rob their victims or get any money out of them. They are simply beating up white college students for the fun of it. If we're going to have hate crime laws on the books, aren't these a great example of where they should apply? Beating up white college students just because they're white college students is about as targeted as it gets.
Little Miss Perfect Has Never Made A Mistake

A woman representing the Philippines in the Miss Universe Pageant got stumped on one of the questions she had to answer: what's the biggest mistake you've ever made? She answered that in 22 years she had never made a major mistake. She's certainly not the only public figure who's been unable to think of a time they screwed up. But why are people so hesitant to admit mistakes? Don't we all make them? We come up with a list of people who would be a lot more respectable if they just owned up to their mistakes.
Ron Johnson Continues To Demonstrate Hypocrisy

Another day, another instance of Ron Johnson showing what a hypocrite and a liar he is. Johnson is now saying he doesn't think businesses should get financial help from the government. Then how does he explain those bonds his plastics company got? Johnson continues to show how ridiculously limited his knowledge is of the issues facing our country and our state. It's simply amazing that this guy has any supporters.

Sly Shoots Down Bill Lueders' Pretentious Commentary

I go mano a mano with Bill Lueders, who wrote a condescending and factually suspect opinion piece in this week's Isthmus. According to Lueders, the public is stupid and political TV ads cater to people's stupidity. He then attacks Russ Feingold for running spots that expose Ron Johnson's double-talk on the second amendment. I'm sick and tired of Lueders and the rest of the media focusing on Feingold's ads. What is he supposed to do, play nice and never go on the offensive when Johnson is spending $15 million to try and beat him? The real story here is Johnson's utter lack of preparedness to be a United States Senator. I take Lueders to task for his failure to focus on that.

Johnson's Campaign Ads Continue To Mislead

Ron Johnson's family is featured in his newest campaign ads, and the message he's trying to send is clear: he's just a "regular" guy and Russ Feingold is a career politician. I don't know about you, but I don't know too many normal people with 15 million extra dollars to spend on a Senate race. Johnson is a multimillionaire and his comments since the beginning of the campaign have revealed how out of touch he is with average Wisconsinites and how little he knows about the issues facing our state and our country.
Amish Getting Free Pass For Heinous Crimes

Sexually abusing young children? Bestiality? Over the course of four years? These are serious crimes by two Amish teenage men in Grant County. But it seems like we're giving them a free pass, both legally and in the court of public opinion. They should have been taken into custody right away, and there should have been more of an uproar. Can you imagine the outcry if two black men were charged with the same crimes?
Add Bike Boulevard To City's Long List Of Driving Inconveniences

Ho hum, another week, another bike boulevard, this time one that prevents cars from making ordinarily legal right turns onto a city street. Apparently "share the road" only applies to drivers. From Madison's insistence on being bike friendly to rampant and often delayed construction projects, we go over the many obstacles drivers have to contend with in this city.
Mom Calls Cops On Sexting Teenage Daughter

What a mess of a story in Racine, where a teenage girl sent an inappropriate picture of herself to her boyfriend. When her mom saw the picture, rather than talk with her about it, she called the police! The daughter was so humiliated she literally jumped into Lake Michigan and tried to swim away. All this fuss over a naked picture? I'm pretty sure this girl's boyfriend has already seen the real thing.
Local Thief Ruins Family's Trip To Capitol

A New Jersey family was enjoying a trip to Madison for a wedding by taking pictures outside our beautiful Capitol building. They set their camera on a timer, posed for the photos...and then noticed that their bag had been taken in plain sight. They finally checked the camera and caught a 59-year-old homeless man, Glenn Lambright, stealing it. Homeless or not, this man is a menace who ruined a family's vacation and negatively colored their view of our city. What can we do to get back at him?

Conservative Racism Still Alive And Well

We talk Ted Nugent's trip to Des Moines, Glenn Beck's trip to the Lincoln Memorial in DC and why conservative racism still exists on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech.
Madison's Political Correctness Comes At Cab Drivers' Expense

Local cab drivers have been experiencing a problem that's not new - passengers taking a free ride and then fleeing the cab without paying the fare. When that happens, it's not the cab company that pays the price; it's the cab drivers themselves, who are independently contracted. So a proposal to have riders pay the fare in advance makes sense, right? Not in the city of the perpetually offended, where city council members say such a policy could lead to racism. How? Doesn't matter. Is this not quintessentially Madison?
To Jump Or Not To Jump?

It's hard to know what to make of the missing 40-year-old man who may have jumped to his death off a bridge into Lake Wisconsin yesterday. He made the decision to risk his life by doing something stupid. But haven't we all gotten drunk and done something dangerous? Aren't his two buddies, who also jumped but resurfaced quickly, partially responsible for egging their friend on repeatedly, despite knowing he wasn't a great swimmer?
